'2009 International Robot Contest(IRC)', has been held from Sept.2nd to Sept. 5th in BEXCO, Busan, and Kwangwoon University's Robot Game Division 'RO:BIT' received the Presidential Award, the first prize of the contest.

Organized by Center for the Advancement of Robot Industry(CRIP), the affiliated center of Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) and sponsored by Busan Metropolitan City and Ministry of Knowledge Economy (MKE), '2009 Robot World' is the biggest Special Event in Robot Industry that holds International Robot Contest, International Robot Conference, and International Robot Industry Show at the same time, in the same place.

One of the spokesmen of Kwangwoon University says, 'We could receive the Presidential Award this year and last year thanks to the strong support of the school and hard work of the students and we are proud and happy to be part of the development of the Robot Industry.'

Robot World has been held only in the National Capital region but this year for the first time it was held in urban area in order to boost up the business of robot related companies outside the National Capital region and to provide the experience of the high robot technology to the local citizens.

In this event where people can visit and experience various robot technology from around the globe, 60 companies participated and 230 booths were open by the associated personnel and experts. Despite of the fact that this was the first time that has been held in urban area, this biggest robot related event has been very successful and opened a door for the huge forum to discuss the future robot technology.

Such a success wiped out the concerns about holding any event outside the National Capital region at once and also confirmed the huge interest in the robot technology industry. Some says that this kind of success was possible due to the promotion that has been done before the opening of the event. 3 weeks in advance to the opening, there have been many events including the robot dance performance in many important area of Busan.

Also, besides the simple robot exhibition, robot performance, robot costume play contest, robot drawing contest and robot UCC contest have been held and attracted attention from many children.

Co-held IT EXPO was also successful enough to deliver the knowledge of future industry. It used the slogan that says 'Ubiquitous is full' in order to understand the present position of the Ubiquitous cities and to help the local IT companies to have an opportunity to do promotion marketing their products, and to increase investment.

This event in which 180 companies, 540 booths were participated including KT, MicroSoft, IBM and ETRI(Electronic and Telecommunication Research Institute) well functioned as 'the special exhibition for business' and provided the jump stand to the IT related companies and manufacturing companies.

It ran two separate exhibitions, one for the buyers and the other for the general visitors and therefore focused on the supporting the companies’ marketing opportunity. This exhibition held up as the biggest special IT business event in South-East Asia with the big exhibition scale, large number of foreign investors and companies, focused resources to the actual buyers, and hard work to be the practical business event.

This event drew a rough sketch of the future by combining the IT's high-tech products and robots and gave dreams and hopes to the children.
